Caring for your fresh flowers or plants can be confusing. There are many places to get advise on how to care for your fresh flowers and plants.
We at Flowers by Carol wish to help you in the easiest way possible.

Fresh Flowers:
If you received your flowers expertly arranged in a vase here are some things you can do to extend the life of your beautiful flowers:

1.Place the flowers in a cool area of your home out of direct sunlight.
2. Keep the vase full with cold water.
3. Every 2-3 days take the flowers out of the vase and clean vase with a weak bleach/ water solution. (this helps to remove bacteria that is harmful to the flowers)
4. Recut the ends of the stems at an angle about 1/2 inch from the bottom and place back into the clean vase filled with cold water.

You do not need to add anything to the water as the flowers already have had the flower food when they left the flower shop. If you have softened water, we recommend not using it as the salt in the water can harm the flowers. "City water" or chlorine treated water and bottled water is fine for the flowers.

If you received your flowers wrapped so you can put them in a vase yourself, then you should;

1. Recut the ends of the stems at an angle as the water pack they were placed in can clog the stems.

2. Fill vase with cold water and mix with the flower food packet that came with your flowers. This is the only time you need to add flower food.

3. Place your flowers in a cool area out of direct sunlight and follow directions above for longer lasting flowers.

**Following these tips will help your flowers last so you can enjoy them longer.**

Plants:
Some plants require more care than others. Keep this in mind when purchasing. If you received a planter/ dish garden or single plant they may all have different needs so try and find out what they are. The 2 biggest reasons plants die after purchase are too much or too little water. Here are some ways to help you keep those plants growing.

Plants that love to be watered regularly are:
Hydrangia, Azalea, African Violets and Peace Lilies.

Plants that prefer to be a little drier are:
Schefferla, Ivy Plants, Prayer Plants, Palm/ Fern Plants, Kalanchoe and Cactus.

Plants in a planter/ Dish garden are not always compatible. Some like it drier and others like water. It may be best to repot them into seperated pots to keep from accidently over/ under watering them.
